Red plums and dark cherries underpinned by fine savoury tannins, oak just a quiet bystander adding presence without being a nosey, intrusive neighbour.

SKU: jingella Category:

Brilliant strong magenta to blood red in colour; morello cherries, rhubarb, wild raspberries and baked beetroot make for a compelling and enticing aromatic. Red plums and dark cherries underpinned by fine savoury tannins, oak just a quiet bystander adding presence without being a nosey, intrusive neighbour. Clean, elegant, rounded with a lot of up-side for greater complexity and therefore enjoyment with time spent maturing in bottle.

Jingella is an indigenous word of two potential meanings – a lush, green landscape or hello – depending on the context. To many, the lush greenness of Hesket’s Macedon Ranges location rings true.  Middle Eastern spices mingle on the bouquet with black cherry, plum, cranberry, dried herbs, Dutch liquorice and oak. It folds out on fine yet sturdy tannins on a taut palate with an enjoyable freshness through the finish. An undercurrent of smoked goods builds. It’s one complex, dense young Pinot worthy of more time in bottle.
